Perth Scorchers coach Justin Langer has dropped a big hint that skipper Adam Voges will be back in BBL|07 despite retiring from domestic state cricket on Wednesday.
Voges confirmed his retirement from Western Australia ranks after a decorated 15-year career but is keen to play on in the KFC Big Bash League with the reigning champions.
The 37-year-old will play with Middlesex in the County Championship this year, before a potential stint with the Scorchers.
Voges explained the situation at his retirement press conference, before Langer interrupted with a reassuring “don’t worry about it”, suggesting he wants his skipper back for BBL|07.
When asked if he’ll play for the Scorchers, Voges said: “I’d like to think so.
“I’m out of contract with the Scorchers and we’re in an embargo period at the moment so we can’t talk too much about it.
“I’ve certainly spoken to JL and hopefully we can make that happen.”
Voges has captained the Scorchers to both the BBL|04 and BBL|06 titles and was part of the side that triumphed in BBL|03.
