Perth Scorchers coach Justin Langer says there’s no secret formula to the Club’s success, putting it down to following the philosophy.
The Scorchers lifted their third BBL title in four years under Langer with Saturday’s nine-wicket win over the Sydney Sixers at #TheFurnace.
“What I believe is we’ve got a formula which we know works here,” Langer said. “It’s very different to a lot of the other franchises.
“If we keep trusting it, it’s a bit like the decision with Jhye Richardson over Jason Behrendorff yesterday. When it came down to it, if we stick to our philosophy and principles, we usually go okay.
“It’s when you go away from it, that’s why when if we get injuries or Australian players, we’ve been able for guys to stand up and cover that.”
Langer said recruiting good people was key to their success as well as treating one another with respect.
“There’s no secret. Everyone asks that,” Langer said.
“We treat our players and our staff and everyone here with respect. How we look after our players is really important.
“Mitch Johnson is a great example. We had sold the story to him, that there’s no pressure, ‘go enjoy yourself, you’ve had a magnificent career’.
“For him to come out of retirement and do that. We treat our senior players with respect.
“We treat our younger players like Jhye Richardson with respect.
“Because of that when we recruit them we make sure we get really good people, whether it’s our overseas players or our old pros like Mitch.
“We get really good people. If you get good people, it doesn’t matter if it’s business or a sporting team, they usually come good under pressure.”
