Mitchell Johnson was the hero as the Mumbai Indians claimed the Indian Premier League title with a thrilling one-run victory over Rising Pune Supergiant on Sunday night.
Johnson, who dominated the BBL|06 finals for the Scorchers, produced an ice-cool final over of the match, with Pune needing 11 off six balls to win.
The left-arm veteran took three wickets in the final over, finishing with figures of 3-26.
Earlier he hit an unbeaten 13 from 14 balls as Mumbai scrambled to 8-129, with those runs proving crucial on a tough day for the batsmen.
Johnson also took 2-28 in Mumbai’s play-offs win over the Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday night.
Nathan Coulter-Nile was in action for KKR in that match, taking 1-15 from three overs, while he was the Player of the Match in Wednesday’s play-off against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Coulter-Nile took 3-20 from four overs in the win over Sunrisers.
In England’s County Championship, Tim Bresnan took three wickets for Yorkshire against Lancashire in a drawn match with rain affecting all four-day matches.
Ian Bell managed eight for Warwickshire and Adam Voges scored nine for Middlesex in drawn games.
