"A warm hug" was how Bancroft described returning to the Scorchers squad after playing in the 2017-18 Ashes Series. In his first game back, it was clear he felt very comfortable, smashing 75 off 56 deliveries to almost pull off an incredible comeback win against the Thunder.
3. Turner, 70 (32) – GAME 6 v Renegades (8 Jan 2018)
It was Turner Time at #TheFurnace on 8 January, as Ashton Tuner wacked 70 off just 32 deliveries including five huge sixes to bring the scores level with the Renegades in the final over.
With just two balls remaining, AT sliced a four off a Mohammad Nabi full toss winning the game in front of a record-breaking crowd.
4. Cartwright 65no (41) – GAME 7 v Thunder (11 Jan 2018)
Hilton Cartwright joined Cam Bancroft in a bold bid to chase down the Thunder's total in the closing overs, with one Cartwright straight six managing to hit the top of the grandstand at Spotless Stadium.
With five runs to win off the final ball, Cartwright was hoping to pull off a fairy-tale finish, but Mitch McClenaghan delivered a wide yorker which only allowed a single.
5. Voges 56no (45) – GAME 10 v Strikers (25 Jan 2018)
A fitting finish to final fight at #TheFurnace as the Scorchers skipper steadied the ship with a calm and calculated unbeaten half-century to guide his side home with three balls to spare.
