BBL Squad Release: Round 1 and 2

19 December 2018

The Perth Scorchers have announced a 13-player squad ahead of their opening two rounds of the KFC Big Bash League this summer.

The Scorchers take on the Melbourne Renegades tomorrow night at Marvel Stadium, then head to Sydney to play the Sixers at the SCG on Saturday 22 December.

Skipper Mitch Marsh will play with the Scorchers for Round 1, but will return to the Australian squad ahead of the Boxing Day Test and miss Round 2 of BBL|08.

Head Coach Adam Voges said the strong squad has provided some selection headaches.

“It’s a good problem to have but it can be hard to figure out who to leave out,” he said.

“Having Mitch back from the Australian squad to lead us into the first game is a great boost for the boys, he brings a lot of energy and skill to the group.

“Then we’ve got Jason Behrendorff, Nathan Coulter-Nile, AJ Tye and Ashton Agar who have all spent time with the Aussie side in the last six months and are in incredible form.

“Sam Whiteman captained the recent CA XI side and Usman Qadir held his own in the Prime Minister’s XI a few months ago.

“You add a pretty handy list of local lads and welcome back the experience of Maxy Klinger and David Willey… it’s a pretty handy list on paper.

“The boys have all played T20 club cricket over the weekend and there’s a good vibe around the group heading into this Big Bash season.”
