Perth Scorchers captain Elyse Villani and teammate Nicole Bolton have been named in the 13-player squad for the day-night Ashes Test this Thursday at North Sydney Oval, while Heather Graham and Mikayla Hinkley will take on the old enemy as part of the Governor General's XI.

It comes after the national Test team drew its three-day Tour Match against the ACT Invitational XI at Manuka Oval in Canberra last week.

Australia leads the Women's Ashes 4-2 on points, after winning two ODIs.

Bolton said she was excited by the proposition of playing the first women’s Test Match under lights.

“The girls are really excited to be in Sydney and to play here under lights, is a fantastic opportunity,” Bolton said.

“We don’t get to play this format too often so the girls are really embracing it and looking forward to Thursday.”

Bolton has also been named captain for the upcoming Governor General’s XI Twenty20 match against England in Sydney, along with Scorchers all-rounder Graham and new signing for WBBL|03 Hinkley.

Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove said the squad would prove strong competition against the visiting English team.

“Nicole Bolton will bring some fantastic skills and experience to the side and will be looking to lead this young team from the front,” Sir Peter said.

“This squad is the next generation of talented Australian cricketers.”

The Governor-General’s XI takes on England on Wednesday November 15, at Sydney’s Drummoyne Oval.
