Fan Focus: Big Bashing With The Mazzellas

20 January 2018

The Mazzella Family

Mike and Laura Mazzella, and their kids Lia and Matthew, have enjoyed a cracking day of cricket at #TheFurnace, watching the Perth Scorchers take on the Hobart Hurricanes at #TheFurnace.

We caught up with the Mazzella family to hear about their day at the KFC Big Bash.

How long have you supported the Scorchers and why?

We love cricket. We weren’t Members to start with, but found ourselves attending every home game, so it just made sense to become Members and now we’re in our fourth year.

Who is you favourite Scorchers player and why?

Matt's favourite is Michael Klinger for his big hits. Laura misses David Willey after he departed for English ODI duties and Lia loves Agar. I love Brad Hogg - he doesn’t play for the Scorchers anymore, but he almost won the game for us a few weeks ago.

What’s your favourite memory from BBL and why?

It has to be last year's championship. I do love a super-over though and I remember a few years ago we won the game (against the Sixers) after a super-over and, right after the game, it started raining!

What’s the best part about watching the cricket live at #TheFurnace?

It’s great family entertainment. We came down for the WBBL game and we really enjoy the Big Bash. It’s good for the kids, good for the family.

What are you looking forward to most about BBL at Optus Stadium?

It’s going to be sad leaving the WACA Ground. We love the grass banks, they’re great for the kids. We’re definitely going to the semi-final if we get there. It’s a school day, but we’ll pull the kids out early for an “important family function” if we have to.
