The Scorchers assistant coach helped the side to three BBL titles but leaves for the top Tasmania gig.

The Western Australian Cricket Association expresses its congratulations to Perth Scorchers assistant coach Adam Griffith following Thursday’s announcement of his appointment as head coach of the Tasmania state men’s program effective immediately.

Griffith, who was born in Launceston and a member of Tasmania’s first Sheffield Shield-winning team in 2006-07, accepted the role after six years with the WACA, during which he worked under head coaches Mickey Arthur, Lachlan Stevens and most recently Justin Langer.

Griffith’s appointment to Tasmania will also have him vacate his role as assistant coach with the Scorchers.

The WACA will immediately commence the process of identifying and appointing Griffith’s replacement and will make an announcement at the appropriate time.

WACA General Manager – High Performance Ben Oliver said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Adam and, while it’s sad to see him go, we wish him all the best for the next phase of his career.

“The WACA has been supportive of Adam’s desire to pursue an opportunity as head coach and we are pleased that he has been able to realise that goal in his home state of Tasmania.

“We thank Adam for the role he has played in the success of the Perth Scorchers and the development of the Alcohol.Think Again Western Warriors programs, teams and players over the past six years.”
