The 23-year-old made five BBL appearances for the Scorchers last season, making an immediate impact, taking eight wickets at an average of 16.60.
The crafty quick said he can’t wait for another summer in the orange and black.
“I wasn’t anticipating too much, just to be involved and to get a taste of it last season was unbelievable, so to be in the squad again this year is a bonus and I can’t wait to get stuck in,” Kelly said.
“We’ve had a big pre-season with WA and I’ve been lucky to have guys like Andrew Tye, Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Coulter-Nile to bounce things off, they are always around to give me feedback.
“To learn off those guys is extremely beneficial for a young bowler like me, I just have to keep feeding off them and take that into the season.”
As is the case with every BBL season, some Scorchers players may be subject to Australian duties and Kelly said that will be a bonus for him.
“Yeah it is exciting, it happened last year with a lot of guys going on to play for Australia and that gave me the opportunity,” he said.
“We are always told to be ready, so when the opportunity arises you can take it with both hands.”
BBL|08 brings with it the first full season at Optus Stadium for the Perth Scorchers, and the tall quick wants to help make the new home a fortress.
“Playing their in the Semi Final last season was unbelievable, the atmosphere was electric and although the result didn’t go our way we are going to find a recipe to perform over there just like we did at the WACA Ground,” he said.
“I know the team is excited to get over there and make it our home ground and make it a tough place for opposition teams to play.”
The Perth Scorchers kick off their BBL|08 campaign on Thursday 20 December against the Melbourne Renegades at Marvel Stadium, with the first home game a Boxing Day blockbuster against reigning champions, the Adelaide Strikers.
