Scorchers Go Down To Sixers At Lilac Hill

31 October 2021

The Perth Scorchers have fallen short in their Weber Women’s Big Bash League clash with the Sydney Sixers, losing by 44-runs today, Sunday 31 October, at Lilac Hill.

The Moments That Mattered

  • Almost 4,000 fans attended on Sunday, boosting overall attendance for the weekend past 6,000, including 60 dogs
  • Scorchers and Sixers players stood together pre-match in an inspiring Barefoot Circle and Welcome to Country ceremony performed by Richard Walley
  • Taneale Peschel (2-34) was the only bowler who was able to breakthrough a defiant Sixers batting group that posted an imposing 3-161 through 20 overs
  • Beth Mooney (30) and Chloe Piparo (29) were the best of the Perth batters, their 48-run stand was the high-point of Perth’s run chase
  • Heather Graham (19) fought valiantly with the lower order to keep the game alive, but it was too big a task with the Sixers running out comfortable winners

After the game Sophie Devine said;

“Full credit to the Sixers, they completely deserved the win today, but we’ll dust ourselves off and go again on Wednesday.”

“We’re looking forward to taking on the Renegades at the WACA Ground, we know the conditions well, so it’s about going out there and playing to our strengths.

“It was awesome to play at Lilac Hill this weekend, there was an incredible family-friendly vibe and we’re grateful to everyone who came along to support us.”

The Scorchers will regroup and look to bounce back quickly on Wednesday 3 October when they take on the Melbourne Renegades at the WACA Ground.
