Matt Kelly was the stand out with the ball collecting 2-30 off 4 overs

Scorchers Skittled By Renegades

29 January 2019

The Perth Scorchers have fallen by 78 runs to the Melbourne Renegades tonight in their second last home game of the KFC BBL|08 Season.

The Scorchers pace attack started strong early doors with good performances led by AJ Tye (1-19 off four) and backed up by Matt Kelly (2-30 off four) to help restrict the Renegades to 5-157 at Optus Stadium.

It was a horror start to the chase for Perth who lost their top order in the blink of an eye and finished with an unsettling 4-12 after six overs.

The wickets continued to fall quickly, and it was game over for the Scorchers who were all out in the 16th over.

Perth skipper Mitch Marsh said it was a disappointing result for the side and one they are looking to bounce back from.

“We haven’t been able to put 40 overs together and that showed tonight,” he said.

“We have to keep working hard and trying to improve. I think over the last couple of weeks we have shown signs of improving with our batting and tonight was a backwards step and it’s really disappointing.

“We have still got three games to go and we still got a lot of pride to play for and hopefully we can finish the season strong and knock a few teams out of the finals.”

The Scorchers head to the Gabba to take on the Brisbane Heat on Friday 1 February before their final home game at Optus Stadium on Sunday 3 February.
