The Perth Scorchers have gone down to the Brisbane Heat by eight wickets in their rebel Women’s Big Bash League clash at Sydney’s Drummoyne Oval.

After losing the toss and being sent into bat, the Scorchers top order failed to fire with openers Meg Lanning (1) and Amy Jones (9) out cheaply.

Nat Sciver (26,) Chloe Piparo (19) and Jemma Barsby (17) provided some resistance in the middle order, which helped push the Scorchers total into triple figures.

Brisbane’s bowlers were disciplined and eventually restricted the Scorchers to 8-112.

Chloe Piparo backed up her solid contribution with the bat and produced a brilliant piece of fielding to run out Heat opener Maddy Green (12) in the third over.

Shortly after, Nat Sciver combined with Meg Lanning to send the dangerous Sammy-Jo Johnson (5) back to the sheds.

From there it was all one way traffic with Beth Mooney (60*) and Jess Jonassen (32*) guiding their side to victory.

The Scorchers will travel to Melbourne tomorrow before taking on the Melbourne Stars at St Kilda’s CitiPower Centre on Wednesday.
