The Perth Scorchers announce their 13 player squad for the opening round of the Rebel Women’s Big Bash League, highlighted by three World T20 winners.

Scorchers and Australian captain Meg Lanning will line up for her first game in orange alongside fellow Aussies Elyse Villani and Nicole Bolton, after the trio returned home following their WT20 triumph in the West Indies.

Kate Cross, who has represented England, could also run out for her first match with the Scorchers however, fellow import Amy Jones has been ruled out by the England and Wales Cricket Board due to the injury policy after travelling to Australia following the conclusion of the WT20.

Local Leg Spinning all-rounder Bhavisha Devchand comes into the squad as a local replacement player for Jones.

Fast bowler Piepa Cleary has returned home to Perth, after the 22-year-old suffered a fracture and dislocation of the thumb during a practice match yesterday.

Head Coach Lisa Keightley said she is excited to see what her new look line up can produce in their first game of the season.

“It’s going to be nice to have the full squad finally together, we’re all hanging out to get our WBBL|04 campaign started so it’ll be nice to get out their tomorrow,” Keightley said.

“Having Meg around the group in a playing capacity is fantastic for our team, she brings a wealth of experience on top of an exciting squad.

“We’re in the fourth season of WBBL now, and I know our homegrown players are continuing to improve and they are stepping up in big moments, which is pleasing to see.

“I’ve learnt during my time in Big Bash that anyone can beat you on any given day, it’ll be no different when we take on the Hurricanes tomorrow because they’re a well drilled team and they’ll want to win just as much as we do.”

Lanning joined other club captains and stars of the WBBL for this mornings season launch at the Citipower Centre (Junction Oval) with the ground to host four games in two days to kick start the campaign.
