Scorchers Set For Biggest Summer of Big Bash

18 July 2018

The Perth Scorchers first full season at Optus Stadium will provide the Club’s passionate supporter base with more matches than ever before as the KFC Big Bash League expands to a full home and away season in it’s eighth year.

In fixtures released today, the Scorchers will start majority of its home matches between the family friendly times of 6.15-6.40PM (WST) enabling the Club to maximise the technology features available at the state of the art venue.

The team will open its first BBL campaign under Head Coach Adam Voges on the road, facing the Melbourne Renegades on 20 December and Sydney Sixers on 22 December before returning home for a clash against the Adelaide Strikers on Boxing Day.

The popular fixture date will provide Members and fans the opportunity to see both Scorchers teams feature in the first regular season match played at Optus Stadium, with the WBBL match against the Brisbane Heat following the men’s.

Following a trip to MCG on 9 January, the Scorchers will enjoy a run of four consecutive matches at their new home, including a semi-final rematch against the Hobart Hurricanes on Friday night, 18 January.

The final match of the regular season will see the team return to Alice Springs to face the Adelaide Strikers as part of the Club’s ongoing commitment to growing Aboriginal cricket participation and celebrating Aboriginal heritage and culture.

“We are really excited about this year’s BBL fixtures,” said Voges.

“Last season, we didn’t play two games at home in a row until the very end, so to have five out of the seven games at home in January is a great result for the players and our Members and fans.

“Everyone is pretty keen to get back to Optus Stadium and do a better job than last time in the semi-final. We are really looking forward to making it our new home ground and get familiar there!

“It’s an incredible stadium and to have six out of seven home games at night will provide a fantastic experience for our Members and fans”.

As a result of the new landmark broadcast partnership, fans will be able to see 11 of the 14 Scorchers matches broadcast live across both Network Seven and FOX SPORTS, with the other three matches shown exclusively on FOX SPORTS, as well as follow all the action on 6PR as part of Macquarie Sports Radio.

Perth Scorchers Memberships will go on sale in September. Public tickets will go on sale on Thursday 4 October.
