Scorchers To Don Special Indigenous Playing Shirt

01 February 2019

Ashton Turner and WA's Aboriginal XI captain Rex Strickland donning their Indigenous playing shirts

The Perth Scorchers will wear a unique Indigenous playing shirt designed by WA artist Kevin Bynder for their last two games of the KFC BBL|08 season.

The design shows the WACA joining Optus Stadium with the Derbal Yirrigan (Swan River) symbolic of the move from the old home to the new home of WA cricket.

The spiky bits on the painting represent the footprints of ancestors in the black to people walking the path today.

The three circles up the top of the shirt represent the three BBL championships. These circles connect with each other and form a pathway to Optus Stadium hopefully with a new/fresh start in 2018/19.

Look out for the Indigenous playing shirt at the final home game of the season at Optus Stadum this Sunday against the Melbourne Stars.
