The Perth Scorchers have warmed up for this weekend’s Rebel Women’s Big Bash League opening round by defeating last year’s Final opponent the Sydney Sixers by three wickets in a 20-over practice match at Blacktown International Sports Park in Sydney.
The rematch between the rivals of last season’s championship decider was part of the preparations for the opening weekend, with the Scorchers getting their campaign underway against the Brisbane Heat at North Sydney Oval on Sunday.
The Sixers claimed the first battle of today’s practice match, winning the toss and electing to bat, before the Scorchers claimed marquee opener Elyse Perry early in the day for 12.
Angela Reakes was the highest scorer for the hosts, notching an unbeaten 55 as the Sixers finished their 20 overs on 7-150.
The Scorchers replied strongly in the chase through Nicole Bolton (29) and Player of the Match Sciver (65 not out).
Perth takes to the field again tomorrow against the Melbourne Renegades at Blacktown International Sports Park.
