Perth Scorchers have announced their 13-player squad to face Melbourne Stars at the CitiPower Centre in Melbourne on Sunday 2 January.

Four players have been removed from the 17-man squad named for Perth’s last contest including Nick Hobson (COVID-19 protocols), Matt Kelly (COVID-19 protocols), Mitch Marsh (Australia), and Josh Inglis (Australia).

Hobson reported symptoms on Saturday morning and was confirmed as having COVID-19 with a PCR test result overnight.

The rest of Perth’s players and staff, including Kelly, returned negative PCR test results this morning.

Kelly and batting coach Beau Casson, however, remain in isolation as a precaution due to the contact they’ve had with individuals confirmed to have had COVID-19.

Marsh and Inglis were added to Australia’s squad ahead of the fourth Test against England, which is due to start in Sydney on Wednesday 5 January.

Perth currently sit second on the 2021-22 KFC Big Bash League ladder with six wins from seven games, while Melbourne Stars are sixth with three wins from six games.
