The Perth Scorchers have announced their 13-player squad ahead of their second and third matches of the Rebel Women’s Big Bash season, with star England wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones available to play.

Perth take on the Sydney Sixers in a grand final rematch under lights this Friday night (December 7), before going up against the Brisbane Heat on Saturday morning with both games at North Sydney Oval.

Amy Jones was unavailable for the Scorchers season opening six-wicket victory over the Hobart Hurricanes last weekend, after the England and Wales Cricket Board ruled her out due to injury after travelling to Australia following the conclusion of the WT20.

Bhavi Devchand has been selected as an injury replacement player for young quick Piepa Cleary, who recently underwent surgery on a fractured and dislocated thumb sustained during a practice match last week.

Head Coach Lisa Keightley said having Jones available will provide a big boost to her squad.

“It’s great to have Amy available for what is such a big couple of games for us,” Keightley said.

“She’s world-class with the gloves and has had a fantastic 12 months with the bat, so it will give us a bit more depth in our batting order.

“Sydney are always a tough opposition with the squad they’ve got, they’re coming off a loss as well so I have no doubt they’ll be fired up.

“Brisbane also have a quality line up, as we know with the Big Bash any team can beat you on their day so we’re going to have to be switched on from the get go.”
