The Perth Scorchers have announced one change to their squad for this weekend’s Rebel Women’s Big Bash League double header against the Sydney Thunder at Lilac Hill.

Perth have received a big boost to their bowling stocks, with local fast bowler Piepa Cleary declared fit to return to the side following surgery on a fractured and dislocated thumb.

Cleary sustained the injury during a practice match against the Melbourne Renegades last month, which saw Bhavisha Devchand come into the squad as an injury replacement player.

The Scorchers gear up for two crucial matches against league leaders Sydney Thunder at the fan favourite Lilac Hill ground, where the famous carnival atmosphere will be in full swing.

"Piepa with the new ball is a bit of a weapon for us, she's taken plenty of wickets over the last few seasons so it's great to have her back in the squad," Scorchers opener Elyse Villani said.

"The Thunder are a pretty good side, they've got an extremely long batting order and their bowlers are either internationals or on the cusp so it's going to be a great test for us.

"I love getting out to Lilac, I used to play for Midland Guildford when I was based in Perth, I know it's a great batting deck and the atmosphere is always amazing out there so I can't wait to see all the fans get along."
