Perth Scorchers pace tyro Joel Paris intends to harness the experience he has gained from his debut KFC Big Bash League campaign to calm his nerves and wreak havoc on India in a week's time.
Paris is in-line to make his national debut after being named alongside teammate Shaun Marsh in Australia's One Day International squad to play India this month.
The series kicks off at WACA Ground on 12 January: the Ground known as #TheFurnace in BBL mode and which Paris has been plying his trade on regularly this summer.
The 23-year-old said there would naturally be nerves for him if a potential national debut came about, but he was confident the experience of playing on the ground in front of more than a combined 60,000 people in the Big Bash this year would hold him in good stead.
"It probably couldn't have turned out better, being selected and in-line to play my first game at the WACA," Paris said.
"The Scorchers crowds have been fantastic for the past two or three years and this year has been no different.
"There'll be a little bit of nerves, but that's to be expected and I'll use that as a positive more than a negative."
Paris' call-up was announced on Monday by Cricket Australia, but the left-armer, known for his ability to swing the ball, received the good news on Sunday with a call from Chairman of Selectors Rod Marsh.
"It's every young cricketer's dream to play for Australia and I'm absolutely rapt; I couldn't be happier," he said.
"I got a call from Rod Marsh yesterday and whenever you get a call from him, it's usually good news.
"It was short and sharp, he just said congratulations and that I deserved it, to enjoy it and show them the same as what I've done over the past couple of years.
"I spoke to the family yesterday and everyone's really happy for me."
