Two More Years For Champion Coach Voges

Decorated Head Coach Adam Voges will steer the WA and Perth Scorchers men’s teams until at least the end of the 2025-26 domestic season, signing a new two-year deal.

Voges has been instrumental to the State’s recent on-field success, celebrating eight titles since his appointment ahead of the 2018-19 season.

Under Voges’ watch, WA and the Scorchers overcame the significant trials of COVID-19 to win the 2021-22 Marsh Sheffield Shield, Marsh One-Day Cup and KFC Big Bash League competitions.

The Shield triumph that season was WA’s first red ball championship since 1998-99, while Perth saluted in the MBBL despite playing 15 of 16 games interstate.

Both teams reigned supreme again in 2022-23, making Voges the only Head Coach to have successfully defended a clean sweep of domestic titles in the MBBL era.

On Sunday, WA won their third consecutive One-Day Cup trophy and fourth in five years, defeating NSW by five wickets at Cricket Central in Sydney. It is the first time WA has achieved a three-peat of domestic 50-over championships.

Voges also experienced a taste of national coaching shortly before the 2023-24 season, mentoring Australia A during three 50-over games and two four-day contests against New Zealand A in Queensland.

Reflecting on his decision to re-sign with WA and Perth Scorchers, Voges said:

“I am excited to continue as Head Coach for another two years, working with an impressive group of players and staff at WA and the Scorchers.

“We’ve achieved a lot together over the last few years while living by values we can all be proud of.

“I certainly have the hunger and drive to take this group forward, and I’m confident the team is just as committed to achieving our ultimate goal of sustained success.”

Quotes attributable to WA Cricket General Manager – High Performance Cricket and Elite Teams, Kade Harvey:

“Adam has been exceptional as Head Coach since taking over in 2018-19, and our results on field reflect that.

“While his tactical nous is first class, Adam’s ability to unify his players and staff has been just as impressive.

“He has empowered the players to take control of their own careers, and helped to instil strong leadership throughout the whole squad.

“We’re pleased to have him on board for another two seasons, and look forward to celebrating more success in the coming years.”
