Perth Scorchers have locked rising England allrounder Freya Kemp as the squad starts to take shape for the upcoming Weber WBBL|11 season.
English Allrounder to Don the Wild West Orange
After making her T20 debut for England at the age of 17 years and 95 days against South Africa and her ODI debut a few months later, Kemp is fast becoming one of the most exciting prospects in women’s cricket.
The hard-hitting 20-year-old has amassed an impressive 298 runs at 59.60 across six games for Hampshire during the 2025 ECB Women’s One-Day Cup, recording a team-high strike of 125.73.
Available for Perth Scorchers’ full campaign, Kemp played alongside superstar skipper Sophie Devine at Southern Brave in the 2025 Women’s Hundred.
She replaces spin-bowling allrounder Chloe Tryon, whose availability has decreased since the WBBL Draft due to commitments with the South African national side.
Perth Scorchers General Manager – High Performance Kade Harvey said he is looking forward to seeing what Kemp can add to the squad.
“Freya is someone we’ve had on our radar since before the WBBL Draft this year, and we are pleased to be able to sign her for what is shaping up to be a promising summer.
“She is a young player with plenty of upside, and we think she will add tremendous depth with her batting ability.
“We are looking forward to what Freya can bring to what is a fast and true pitch at the WACA Ground, and I’m sure our Members and fans will get to know her game quickly.
“We understand Chloe’s position and fully back her decision to play for her home country against Ireland and wish her all the best.”
Perth Scorcher player Freya Kemp said she is excited to be part of the WBBL for the first time.
“I’m excited to be calling Perth home over the Australian Summer. The WBBL is always such an exciting tournament, and I’m stoked to be part of it this year.
“I’ve heard plenty about the WACA Ground pitch and I can’t wait to walk out and be part of what is a high-quality team.
“I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates and getting stuck in.”
