Perth Scorchers will be forced into at least one change for tomorrow’s clash with Melbourne Renegades at Marvel Stadium – the Club’s final interstate match of the KFC BBL|15 home-and-away season.
Squad Announcement: One Change For Important 'Gades Clash
After making a stylish 42 against Adelaide on Sunday, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis has returned to Perth and will miss the contest under a Cricket Australia workload management plan.
Inglis’ absence is the only change to the Scorchers’ 13-player extended side for their penultimate regular season fixture.
Powerful left-handed batters Nick Hobson and Sam Fanning retain their place in the squad and could be called upon to replace Inglis, while Finn Allen and Laurie Evans have both worn the gloves in BBL|15.
Currently third on the standings, victory tomorrow night would book the Scorchers' ticket to finals.
The possibility of another minor premiership would also remain alive if Brisbane Heat topple Hobart Hurricanes at NINJA Stadium tonight.
Perth would then require wins in its final two regular season contests against the 'Gades and Melbourne Stars (Saturday 17 January, Optus Stadium) to finish top and host The Qualifier on Tuesday 20 January, when hosting rights for The Final go up for grabs.
Should the 'Canes and Scorchers will all their remaining games, the reigning champions would the play Qualifier against Adam Voges' men in Hobart.
The Scorchers enter tomorrow's match having won four of their last five games, the exception being an agonising last-ball loss to the Renegades at home.
