Mahli Party: Young Quick Locked In For BBL|16

One of Australia’s most exciting young fast bowlers Mahli Beardman has pledged his allegiance to Perth Scorchers, extending his contract until the end of KFC BBL|16.

Beardman has established himself as a star of the future in a short space of time, having made his Scorchers debut at the end of BBL|14.

The 21-year-old has become a constant of the Scorchers’ line-up through BBL|15 and regularly been asked to bowl at crucial stages of matches by captain Ashton Turner.

Such is the high regard Beardman is held in, he found himself in Australia’s T20 squad for the recently concluded series against India.

As well as playing an important role for the Scorchers in the shortest form of the game, Beardman’s talent has also been on display for his State in three One-Day Cup matches this season.

The Dunsborough product has taken seven wickets at an average of 23.28 in his three One-Day Cup outings.

Perth Scorchers General Manager – High Performance Cricket and Elite Teams, Kade Harvey said keeping Beardman for another season was a great result for the Club.

“We are really pleased to have secured Mahli for another BBL campaign.

“We feel Mahli’s well suited to the conditions here in Perth and his pace gives our bowling group some real potency. He’s also shown great maturity and adaptability in conditions all around the country.

“We’ve been really impressed with Mahli’s development over the past 12 months, as well as his appetite to improve, and we see him as an important part of our squad moving forward.”

Perth Scorchers Fast Bowler Mahli Beardman said he was excited at the prospect of sticking with the squad.

“I’m thrilled to be able to stay in the orange for at least another season. I’ve really enjoyed being a part of the squad over the past two seasons and I’m looking forward to being a part of it again next season.

“I’m looking forward to improving my skills and learning from such a talented squad, which is capable of sustained success.

“I still remember sitting in the stands as a supporter, so to be out there on Optus Stadium in front of the Scorchers’ Members and fans is a thrill and a privilege. They’re the most loyal in the competition, create a great atmosphere, and give us a massive edge every time we play at home.”
