Scorchers Bound For Guyana

KFC BBL|15 champions Perth Scorchers are set to take on some of the world’s best T20 teams in the 2026 ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League in Guyana.

The GSL returns for its third edition from July 23 – August 1, which will mark the first time Perth has competed in the event.

The club will compete as the Perth Scorchers XI in the tournament.

The tournament brings together five elite teams from across the globe to compete for the title and US$1 million (approximately A$1.41 million) in prize money.

All GSL matches will be played at Providence, home of the Guyana Amazon Warriors, over a 10-day period.

BBL|03 title-winning captain and Scorchers great Simon Katich will assume the role of stand-in Head Coach, with Adam Voges unavailable due to commitments with Trent Rockets in The Hundred.

BBL|14 champions Hobart Hurricanes were the lone Australian side in the second edition of the tournament in 2025, which was taken out by the Guyana Amazon Warriors, while a Cricket Victoria side were the Australian representative in 2024.

WA Cricket Chief Executive Officer John Stephenson said the club jumped at the opportunity to play in the GSL when it presented.

“We are extremely excited by the prospect of taking part in the third edition of the GSL.

“The Perth Scorchers represent everything that is uniquely Western Australian and the GSL provides us with a chance to showcase this at an international level.

“The tournament has gone from strength-to-strength since its inception, and we look forward to seeing how our team goes on the global stage.”

Perth Scorchers General Manager – High Performance Cricket and Elite Teams, Kade Harvey said the tournament would give the team important exposure against quality opponents.

“The GSL will provide our players with a wonderful opportunity to test themselves in foreign conditions against some of the best T20 sides from around the world.

“Taking part in a tournament of this nature will also give our players an opportunity to ready themselves for the Australian domestic summer, which includes our BBL title defence.

“In Adam’s absence we are also incredibly fortunate to be able to call on someone with the credentials and experience of Simon Katich. Our players will benefit greatly from being able to work with him through the duration of the tournament.”
