Perth Scorchers will bring plenty of festive cheer to Members and fans in KFC BBL|16, with three consecutive home games at Optus Stadium in the final fortnight of 2026.
KFC BBL|16 Fixture unveiled
The remainder of the defending champions’ fixture, released today, sees them travel to Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, as well as a full suite of five regular season matches at The Furnace.
In a landmark moment for the Big Bash League and for Australian cricket, the Scorchers will open the KFC BBL|16 season at the iconic M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, taking on Melbourne Renegades before one of global cricket’s most passionate audiences.
Following the trip to Chennai, the Scorchers will return to Perth for three consecutive home matches against Hobart Hurricanes (Sunday 20 December), Melbourne Stars in another huge Boxing Day Bash (Saturday 26 December) and Sydney Thunder (Wednesday 30 December) in a bumper 10 days for Members and fans.
The six-time champions’ first Australian-based away game of the campaign takes place against Sydney Thunder on the second day of 2027, before returning home to take on Brisbane Heat 48 hours later.
The corresponding match against Sydney Thunder at ENGIE Stadium last season saw captain Ashton Turner belt an unbeaten 99 to inspire his side to a crucial win early in the season.
Scorchers will then travel to Brisbane for an exciting clash at the GABBA on Friday 8 January, after the corresponding fixture in BBL|15 saw a record-breaking 515 runs hit.
A clash with arch rivals Sydney Sixers at the SCG awaits less than 48 hours later on Sunday 10 January.
It will be the only time last season’s finalists meet in BBL|16, after the Scorchers had the better of the Sixers in both The Qualifier and The Final.
Scorchers will then welcome Melbourne Renegades on Wednesday 13 January for the final regular season match at Optus Stadium, before hitting the road for the final time to take on Adelaide Strikers at Adelaide Oval on Saturday 16 January.
The finals commence with The Qualifier on Tuesday 19 January, before The Eliminator and The Challenger take place on Wednesday 20 January and Saturday 23 January.
The BBL|16 Final will take place on Tuesday 26 January.
Seven Scorchers games will be broadcast by Channel 7, while Kayo and Foxtel will show all matches.
Perth Scorchers General Manager Kade Harvey said the string of early home games gave the side a chance to lay the foundation for a strong season.
“It’s a great result for our players and staff to have the opportunity to take part in the history making clash in Chennai.
“Equally as exciting is being able to spend the Christmas and New Year period at home with three consecutive home games.
“We were pleased to win four out of our five away matches in BBL|15 and we are excited to try and replicate that again this season against quality opposition.
“It’s set to be a history making season for the Club and we’re really excited to bring our Members and fans along for the ride.”
