Perth Scorchers quick Matt Kelly has called time on his cricket career, telling teammates season 2025-26 was his last at the elite level.

Kelly managed 39 appearances for the Scorchers since his debut in BBL|07, taking 55 wickets at a tidy average of 20.54.
The right-arm fast medium bowler made his debut alongside the likes of his Mitchell Johnson, Tim Bresnan and Joel Paris.
After being a consistent performer in his first three BBL seasons, Kelly saved his best form for the Scorchers during BBL|11 and BBL|12, which saw the club claim both titles.
While he missed the BBL|11 Final win over Sydney Sixers, Kelly was central to the side’s run to that match.
His skillset was on full display in the six appearances he made in that campaign, taking 14 wickets at 12.75.
Kelly’s 4-25 against Melbourne Stars in Geelong was the best bowling figures by a Scorchers player in the successful campaign.
He backed up a superb BBL|11 campaign with another strong BBL|12 tournament, taking 11 wickets at 19.
Two of those 11 wickets came in as many deliveries during the Final against Brisbane Heat, removing Max Bryant and Michael Neser to stall Brisbane Heat’s momentum late in the innings.
Kelly finishes his career as the Scorchers fifth all-time leading wicket taker, with only AJ Tye, Jason Behrendorff, Jhye Richardson and Ashton Agar ahead of him.
