Perth Scorchers superstar Mitch Marsh is enjoying a superb run of form in his first campaign in The Hundred in England, finishing the regular season as the competition’s leading run scorer.
Marsh Enjoying Stellar Time In The Hundred
Marsh notched 406 runs at a stunning 50.75 in his eight outings for Sunrisers Leeds and stamp his authority as the competition’s most destructive batter in doing so.
The 34-year-old, who was awarded Australia’s One-Day International Player of the Year last week, wasted little time making his presence felt in the tournament, scoring 41 off 27 balls in his first match.
He followed that up with a Player of the Match performance in his side’s five-run win over Southern Brave, hitting 10 boundaries in his 69 runs off 34 balls.
Marsh notched his second Player of the Match effort in as many matches for his staggering 63 of 26 balls when leading Sunrisers to a commanding eight-wicket win over Manchester Super Giants.
It was Marsh’s role in Sunrisers win over London Spirit where he made the biggest statement of his inaugural season.
Alongside Ryan Rickleton, Marsh broke a plethora of batting records.
The pair put on 119 runs in the first 50 balls of the innings, the highest halfway score in tournament history.
Four balls later the pair then were the holders of the biggest partnership in tournament history with 131 runs.
Marsh’s 76 off 37 balls helped his side to the highest score in tournament history of 2-241.
The power hitter’s impeccable form continued in the 71-run win over Welsh Fire, where he scored 50 off 34 balls in another Player of the Match performance.
Sunrisers maintained a perfect record through the tournament at their home ground at Headingley, leaving them in the mix for a finals spot.
Meanwhile, Scorchers Head Coach Adam Voges’ first season as assistant at Trent Rockets will end in Men’s Hundred Final on Monday, after Sunrisers defeat on Wednesday morning saw the Rockets secure a spot in the decider.
