Record breaker to spark up WACA Ground

Perth Scorchers are excited to announce Pakistan international Fatima Sana has signed with the club for the Weber WBBL|12 season.

At just 24 years of age, Sana has already established herself as a leader on the international stage, captaining Pakistan across both ODI and T20 formats while becoming one of the country’s premier pace-bowling allrounders.

The Scorchers will have a record breaker on their list, with Sana smashing the fastest half-century in Women’s T20 international cricket – a 15-ball 50 against Zimbabwe earlier this year.

Since the start of the year, Fatima has accumulated 483 across 21 matches and taken 31 wickets, showcasing her significant value in the game's shortest format.

Known for her ability to swing the ball, break key partnerships and contribute runs down the order, Sana brings experience from more than 60 international appearances.

Sana will be available for the first eight games of the season.

Sana said she is excited by the prospect of playing on the WACA Ground.

“I’ve watched the WBBL from Pakistan and always wondered what it would feel like to be part of this great competition,” she said.

“To now wear the Scorchers colours, represent such a great club and walk out at the WACA Ground in front of Members and fans, while being cheered on by people back home, is incredibly special.

“This really is a dream come true.”

Perth Scorchers General Manager Kade Harvey said the acquisition of Sana shows what a premier tournament WBBL is seen around the world.

“Fatima is one of the most exciting young allrounders in world cricket, and we’re thrilled to welcome her to Perth Scorchers for the upcoming summer,” he said.

“A proven performer at the age of 24, we believe she fits our list profile really well and we’re excited to see how Fatima executes on the WACA Ground wicket.

“She is a player our Members and fans will quickly grow to enjoy watching and we’re excited to have her join the Scorchers family.”

Perth Scorchers have now signed 11 players for the upcoming Weber WBBL|12 season with four spots left to fill.
