Part of the Scorchers’ championship team in WBBL|07, Piparo will add further leadership and guidance to the squad, having seen the competition grow from humble beginnings to now being the premier T20 tournament for women, internationally.

Friday is approaching her fourth season in the West, having tallied 79 matches across stints with the Scorchers (WBBL|03 and WBBL|10- WBBL|12), Brisbane Heat, Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes.

A consistent middle order batter, Friday adds depth and experience to a powerful batting unit already featuring stars Beth Mooney, Sophie Devine, Freya Kemp and Katie Mack, among others.

Friday and Piparo are both currently in action for the Scorchers in the T20 Spring Challenge with the former making 96 runs in two innings.

Piparo said she is excited to continue her career as a one club player.

“I feel incredibly proud and privileged to be with the Scorchers for the past 12 years. It’s a special environment to be involved in and I’m grateful to be able to be part of this year’s squad,” she said.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing how the team comes together this year and playing whatever role I can to help us have a successful season.

“We always get such amazing support at the WACA Ground, and with the new redevelopment, I’m excited to see even more Members and fans cheering the team on.”

Friday said she is excited to get back into the summer of T20 cricket with the Scorchers.

“Perth Scorchers have become a huge part of my cricketing journey and I’m really excited for the opportunity to continue in orange,” Friday said.

“The culture we’ve built within the group is something special, and it’s exciting to be part of what’s ahead this season.

“I’m looking forward to contributing on and off the field as we hopefully go one step further this season by lifting the trophy at the end of the tournament.”

Perth Scorchers General Manager Kade Harvey said both players bring a wealth of experience and professionalism to the team.

“Chloe has been a significant figure in WA Cricket for many years and continues to bring outstanding leadership, experience and competitiveness to our group,” Harvey said.

“Mikayla is a respected member of the squad whose versatility and team-first approach make her an incredibly valuable player.

“Retaining quality people is a key priority for us, and we are looking forward to seeing the impact both players will continue to have as we push to go one better this season.”

Perth Scorchers have two remaining lists spots to fill ahead of their season-opener against Melbourne Renegades at the WACA Ground on 31 October.
