Aaron Hardie was awarded a rookie contract for both the Western Australia State Men’s and Scorchers squads for the first time in 2018-19.

The 27-year-old captained the WA Under 19s side to victory at the Cricket Australia National Under 19s Championships in 2017 and earned Australian selection, highlighted by an impressive knock of 85 against Pakistan.

Hardie made his debut in BBL|08 against Melbourne Stars at the MCG, helping the Scorchers to a six-wicket win. 

The Willetton product became a regular in the Scorchers team during BBL|10, playing all 17 matches, including the Final against Sydney Sixers at the SCG. 

Hardie was named X-factor sub for the Scorchers in the BBL|11 Final in Melbourne, where the side recorded a commanding victory over the Sixers. 

The powerful right-hander produced some of his best cricket the following season, scoring a competition-high 460 runs and earning selection in the BBL Team of the Tournament, as the Scorchers recorded their fifth success in the competition.

Hardie enjoyed another stellar campaign in BBL|13, scoring 334 runs and taking six wickets to secure a second straight selection in the Team of the Tournament. He also had the opportunity to lead the side in the absence of regular skipper Ashton Turner.

BBL|15 was arguably Hardie's best, as he scored 339 runs and took 12 wickets in a superb all-round display. His unbeaten 94 against Hobart Hurricanes on New Year's Day was one of the knocks of the tournament.
