The 22-year-old has made a remarkable start to his time in orange, which started when he was signed for the BBL|11 campaign in 2021. Just moments before his debut game against Brisbane Heat in BBL|12, Connolly was presented his cap by Scarborough teammate and Scorchers great AJ Tye.

Connolly hasn't looked back since. He elevated himself to stardom for his match-winning partnership with Nick Hobson in the BBL|12 Final, helping the Scorchers snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. 

He became a permanent member of the Scorchers side in BBL|13, playing all 11 games and contributing with bat and ball. 

It was BBL|14 where Connolly's raw talent and power started to be realised. His 351 runs and six wickets for the campaign saw him named the Player of the Tournament alongside Glenn Maxwell. 

A matter of weeks after the conclusion of BBL|14, Connolly made his Test debut for Australia against Sri Lanka in Galle. 

He started the BBL|15 campaign with back-to-back half-centuries against Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat, but it was with the ball where Connolly had his biggest impact on the competition. The left arm orthodox spinner took 15 wickets in 12 matches, with six of those coming in the first over of the innings.
