Scorchers Commit To State's Bravest Kids

Perth Scorchers have proudly partnered with the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation (PCHF) in 2024-25, aiding the charity’s commitment to helping sick kids get well and stay well.

The partnership was launched at the WACA Ground today, where eight Scorchers players savoured the chance to spend valuable time with five remarkable PCHF ambassadors, aged 8-10, and their families.

Jason Behrendorff, Alana King, Chloe Ainsworth, Andrew Tye, Chloe Piparo, Matt Kelly, Lilly Mills and Maddy Darke were guided through a series of fun activities and drills by their guests.

The training session formed part of PCHF’s annual Kid Takeover, which invites kids to ‘run the show’ in a bid to highlight the world from a child’s perspective.

Throughout the morning, players learned the invaluable role the PCHF plays to ensure PCH patients receive the world-class resources they require.

By working closely with those on the frontline, the PCHF has an intimate understanding of what clinicians, researchers and families need to ensure a tangible impact is made where it matters most.

This knowledge helps the Foundation determine which solutions to fund, ensuring sick children have access to first-rate care while striving to become healthier and happier.

Reflecting on Perth Scorchers’ partnership with the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation (PCHF), Perth Scorchers General Manager Jess Keily said:

“The Perth Scorchers are incredibly proud to team up with the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation, which has made a remarkable difference to the lives of countless children and their families.

“As a club, we firmly believe the role of cricket extends far beyond wins and losses. It’s about putting smiles on as many faces as possible, while ensuring everybody feels connected and included.

“We’re excited to work together with PCHF to achieve better outcomes for the State’s most courageous kids.”

Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO Carrick Robinson said:

“We are thrilled to secure the support of Perth’s iconic cricket team, the Scorchers. Working together, we now have an opportunity to help raise awareness of the vital support WA kids need to get well and stay well.

“Our PCHF Kid Takeover is an annual campaign which aims to get everyone to see the world through a child’s eyes, the way that we do.  Being on the frontline of children’s health, we walk the same hallways as kids, families, and clinicians, so we have an in-depth understanding of how to make the greatest impact for WA kids, where it counts the most.

“Our partnership with the Scorchers will allow us to reach more of the WA community, while also providing fantastic opportunities to engage our PCHF ambassador kids, who have thoroughly enjoyed being able to run the show down at the WACA today.”
