The Bryce is Right! Jackson signs for BBL15

Exciting pace bowler Bryce Jackson has recommitted to his hometown Club, signing with Perth Scorchers for the KFC BBL|15 season.

It is Jackson’s first full BBL contract, having spent most of BBL|14 with Perth as a local replacement player.

Struck down by persistent injuries in the early stages of his career, Jackson has relished a clean bill of health to showcase his considerable talents in limited overs cricket.

The relaxed Albany product took 12 wickets at 15.58 in just four One-Day Cup (ODC) games last season, including the best-ever ODC figures by a WA bowler (6-31 against South Australia).

This tally saw him place second in the ODC Player of the Year award, one vote behind South Australian allrounder Liam Scott.

Jackson’s outstanding domestic form has rocketed him into the frame for higher honours, named in Australia A’s squad to face Sri Lanka A in Darwin next month.

Capable of generating noteworthy pace, swing and bounce, Jackson also travelled on multiple interstate trips and featuring in several extended matchday squads during BBL|14.

The Scorchers now have three local and two international list spots to fill for BBL|15, ahead of the WBBL and BBL Drafts on Thursday 19 June.

Reflecting on his new Scorchers contract, Jackson said:

“It’s exciting to be back with the Scorchers and signing a full contract this year is another step in the right direction.

“I got a nice taste of things from being the local replacement last season by training with the group, working my own craft and learning plenty about the tactical side of things.

“The preparation, in particular, was a huge takeaway. It’s different to domestic cricket with all the travel and tight turnarounds, so I’ll benefit a lot from learning those routines and prioritising certain aspects of my preparation.

“Hearing the noise at ground level on game day was another thing, and The Furnace is unbelievable. It is so, so loud and incredibly exciting to be out there when someone takes a hanger or bowls someone.

“It’d obviously mean a lot to make my Scorchers debut in front of family and friends and it’ll be hard to put that experience into words when my times comes. For now, I’m just focused on working hard, learning as much as I can, contributing to the team, and enjoying the experience.”

Perth Scorchers list to date for KFC BBL|15: Ashton Agar, Finn Allen (NZ), Mahli Beardman, Cooper Connolly, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis, Bryce Jackson, Matthew Kelly, Mitch Marsh, Lance Morris, Joel Paris, Jhye Richardson, Ashton Turner.
