Pip, Pip, Hooray! Local Batter Re-signs

Homegrown batter Chloe Piparo has recommitted to Perth Scorchers for another campaign, signing on until at least the end of Weber WBBL|11.

A renowned leader with considerable experience, the classy right-hander has been part of the Scorchers’ fabric since the WBBL was launched in 2015-16.

Piparo played in the Club’s WBBL|07 championship and has featured more times for the Scorchers (121) than any player except decorated men’s captain Ashton Turner (129).

The 31-year-old launched her international career for Italy in May and has since tallied 305 runs at 43.57, playing an important role during the nation’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe qualifiers.

A picture of consistency in the Women’s National Cricket League, Piparo is also WA’s all-time leading WNCL run-scorer with 2896 runs at 35.75.

Perth Scorcher Chloe Piparo said she is proud to be re-signing with the club.

"To have been with the team from the first year to now, it’s exciting to see how the squad has changed over the years,” she said.

"We’ve got a really strong culture at the moment, and I think the team will come together really nicely.

"We’ve added Katie Mack to our team who will really strengthen our batting line up and Chloe Ainsworth is going from strength to strength, so I’m excited to see what we can produce this summer.

"The support that we get at the WACA Ground is incredible, it’s not something anyone in the team takes for granted and we love playing in front of our fans.

"We’ve been disappointed with the last few seasons, but I think the squad we have put together this year will hold us in good stead to go deep into the competition.”

Perth Scorchers have two local spots left to fill.
