WBBL Squad Finalised with Exciting Pair

Perth Scorchers have finalised their Weber WBBL|11 squad with the additions of emerging talents Ruby Strange and Shay Manolini, bolstering the group ahead of Sunday’s season opener at the WACA Ground.

Twenty-two-year-old Strange joins the Scorchers after an eye-catching T20 Spring Challenge campaign, where the pace bowler claimed five wickets across four matches.

The Queenslander, previously contracted with the Brisbane Heat and a two-time Kath Smith Medallist in Premier Cricket, said the move west marks an exciting new chapter.

“I’m thrilled to be heading west and pulling on the orange this season,” Strange said.

“From the moment I met the squad during Spring Challenge, the energy around the group has been incredible.

“To call the WACA Ground home is exciting. It has so much history, especially for pace bowlers, and I’m looking forward to testing my skills out there while learning from an awesome squad.

“Getting the opportunity to play in front of the Scorchers’ Members and fans will also be amazing. They’re definitely the most passionate in the country, and we’ll be doing everything we can to give them something to celebrate in WBBL|11.”

Leg-spinner Manolini also strengthens the Scorchers’ bowling stocks, signing on the back of a quality Spring Challenge campaign and continued growth in the WA Women’s National Cricket League setup.

The 20-year-old Midland-Guildford product, who made her WNCL debut in 2023, said she couldn’t wait to take the next step in orange.

“Signing with the Scorchers is an incredible opportunity to contribute to a team who I’ve watched and admired growing up,” Manolini said.

“It was great to get a taste of playing in the T20 Spring Challenge for the Scorchers and I’m excited to be part of it for the next couple of months and continue my growth in the shorter format of the game.

“We have so many incredible players, so this year is as much about learning everything I can from them while putting my best foot forward on the field.

“I’m stoked to have the chance to wear the orange and play in front of our Members and fans. Sunday can’t come quick enough.”

Both players have signed one-year contracts.
