Perth is set for one of the biggest weeks of Big Bash cricket in years, with both our Scorchers sides lighting up the city in a double dose of must-watch action.
Two Teams, One Club: Massive Week of Big Bash Cricket in Perth
First up, our Weber WBBL team hosts a do-or-die Knockout Final at the iconic WACA Ground – a huge moment for the Club as we fight for a place in the Challenger against Sydney Sixers on Thursday.
“We are so excited to be able to host a final at home here at the WACA Ground. We get the best crowds all year, the best fans, and the best supporters,” WBBL Perth Scorchers Captain Sophie Devine said.
“We've had some outstanding crowds, even the other night we had over 3000 people come through the gates, it certainly makes a huge difference for us as players, we love the noise, and we love the support.”
Then, just days later, the men kick off their KFC BBL campaign in front of a roaring Optus Stadium crows for the annual Wild West season opener.
“It’s been an exciting time to be a cricket fan in Western Australia,” KFC BBL Perth Scorchers Captain Ashton Turner said.
“I’ve been down to the WACA Ground to watch the girls this season, we are really proud of their performances, and we’ve got our fingers crossed for them through this finals campaign.
“We will take that momentum into our season and there is no better way to get our campaign under way than to play at home in front of our home fans.”
It’s the perfect showcase of what makes this Club special: two teams, one Orange Army, one city behind us.
With balmy Perth evenings forecast, we’d love nothing more than to see fans, families and workers head down to the WACA Ground after work to get behind the women as they chase finals glory.
“I certainly encourage anyone and everyone to come through the gates, work can surely sign you off or school, whatever it is, make sure you get down to the WACA Ground,” Devine said.
And on Sunday, let’s fill The Furnace at Optus Stadium and create the kind of atmosphere only Perth can deliver.
