Perth Scorchers’ Weber WBBL|11 season was one to remember both on and off the field, with the organisation once again leading the competition when it comes to Members and fan engagement.
Perth Scorchers Continue to Lead from the Front
From incredible on-field performances, to an Ashes Afterparty game which saw Members of the Barmy Army roll across the Matagarup bridge after Day Two of the NRMA Ashes West Test, to fans flooding the field following the Scorchers’ victory in The Knockout, the Furnace brought Members and fans further into the inner sanctum than ever before.
Building year-on-year on match day themes which continued to entice spectators through the gates, the Scorchers welcomed 14,856 passionate supporters – an average of 3,096 per home game - to their Wild West, Ashes Afterparty, Pride, and Aboriginal fixtures at the WACA Ground.
This smashed the League average of 1,547 spectators per match, while the Club’s average home game attendance increased by 20% on WBBL|10, to become the highest average for a club in the standalone WBBL era.
These numbers reinforce the organisation’s pride in creating an inclusive and safe environment for people to enjoy Big Bash cricket.
The Scorchers’ WBBL|11 season was watched by an average audience of 139,687 viewers per game, which saw an increase of more than +73% on last year’s campaign, the highest growth of any team.
This season was also the Scorchers’ highest average audience per match since WBBL|05, when six matches were simulcast.
Digital engagement across all platforms remained strong throughout out the tournament, with more than 5,000 new followers joining across the Perth Scorchers channels.
Perth Scorchers General Manager Jess Keily said she was proud that the Scorchers' continue to grow year-on-year.
“Perth Scorchers have once again showcased that we are the ultimate women’s sporting event to kick off the summer months.
“Across the season, the WACA Ground was absolutely heaving with our incredibly dedicated Members, fans and supporters who continually showed up to support our women’s team as they made it to final match of the season.
“We are grateful to the Orange Army and can’t wait to welcome them back through the gates next year at the brand new WACA Ground.
“We thank our players, staff, broadcasters and partners for their support in putting together what was an incredible season.”
