Mooney Takes Home T20 International Player of the Year Award

Perth Scorchers opening batter and wicket-keeper Beth Mooney has been crowned the T20 International Player of the Year winner by Cricket Australia.

The Scorchers superstar has now claimed the award four times since its inception in 2019, an incredible testament to her enduring excellence in the shortest format of the game.

Whilst there was only one International T20 series held during the voting period, Mooney was her typical best against New Zealand, being named player of the series.

The prolific left-hander amassed 166 runs in just three games against the White Ferns at an average of 83 and a strike rate of 167.

Mooney won the award on a countback having tied in points with Australian teammate and Sydney Thunder player Georgia Voll.

She also shone at the ICC Cricket World Cup in India against Sri Lanka, helping to pull Australia out of trouble with a century against Pakistan and finishing the tournament as the team's top run scorer.

On home soil, Mooney finished up as the highest run scorer during Weber WBBL|11 with 549 runs, including a career WBBL best of 105 against Brisbane Heat at Allan Border Field.

Mooney also finished a close second (74) in the Belinda Clarke votes, with Scorchers teammate Alana King finishing third (55 votes). Victorian Annabel Sutherland took home the coveted award with 77 votes.
