With more than half of the group stage completed, a number of Scorchers players have already shown their class.
Ever-consistent opening batter and wicketkeeper Beth Mooney has scored 91 runs across four group-stage matches, with a top score of 74 not out against the Netherlands.
Mooney has battled a couple of injury concerns during the tournament, including a back spasm that forced her to retire hurt against the Netherlands, and two instances of a dislocated finger while keeping against Pakistan. Despite this, she has continued to perform at her reliable best.
Leg-spinner Alana King earned her way back into Australia’s T20 squad ahead of the World Cup and has been at her economical best, consistently restricting opposition scoring.
New Zealand captain Sophie Devine is embracing her final T20 World Cup in international cricket, having announced her retirement ahead of the tournament. She has scored 62 runs across three innings so far.
England’s Freya Kemp, who made a strong impression during her debut season in orange last year, has showcased her power-hitting ability, with a top score of 39 not out featuring four fours and two sixes.
Australia remain undefeated heading into their final group match against India on June 28 at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Devine and New Zealand will face Kemp’s England side on June 28 at The Oval.
